MASTER OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
The Master of Computer Science is offered on a full-time basis (Open Distance Learning). The Open Distance Learning (ODL) study is conducted fully online. The duration of study for this programme is 3 semesters (1.5 years) and the total number of credits for graduation is 45. It has been accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) based on the current Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF).
The programme is offered on full-time basis and are based on a 2-Semester per academic session. This is a mixed-mode master programme. Academic load for each semester depends on total number of credits. Students can take a minimum of one course (equivalent to 3-4 credits) up to a maximum of twenty (20 credits) for full-time. Students are required to finish all course works before starting dissertation. Assessment method for academic achievement is the combination of two (2) parts, that is based on GPA/CGPA and research progress report. The research progress report needs to be submitted by week 12 of the semester through GSMS. Dissertation evaluation is graded based on three categories i.e. satisfactory (MM), Unsatisfactory (TM) and Fail (GG).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- CGPA ≥ 2.5 for the Bachelor Degree of Computer Science, or equivalent (such as Technology/Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and other appropriate) from recognized university by Malaysia ; or
- CGPA < 2.5 for the Bachelor Degree of Computer Science, or equivalent (such as Technology/Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and other appropriate) from recognized university by Malaysia with 3 years of working experience in related fields (e.g., cyber security/information security) and recognized by Malaysia ; or
- Candidates with non-Computer Science degree (e.g., IT & other engineering) must complete three additional courses during first semester of the programme:
1. Theory of Computer Science
2. Data Structure and Algorithm
3. Artificial Intelligence

- Candidates with a Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent from a university recognized by Malaysia must have at least 5 years of working experience in the field of Computer Science, and
- Malaysian citizens with an APEL.A T7 certificate can be considered for admission (subject to faculty approval).

ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
International students who wish to enroll in the postgraduate programs at UTM must meet the English language competency requirements as stipulated below:
- Malaysia University Entrance Test (MUET) with a minimum score of Band 4.0 and above; or
- IELTS with a minimum score of Band 6.0 and above; or
- TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 60 and above; or
- Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE), with a minimum score of 168 and above; or
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic with a minimum score of 59 and above; or
- Certified Intensive English Programme Level (CIEP Level) achieving Level 109 and above.
