MASTER OF CYBER SECURITY
The Master of Cyber Security is a master’s degree course offered on a full-time basis (Open Distance Learning). The Open Distance Learning (ODL) study is conducted fully online. The duration of study for this programme is 3 semesters (1.5 years) and the total number of credits for graduation is 45. It has been accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) based on the current Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF).
This programme bridges the gap between those cyber security aspects with the industry requirements. The aim of this programme is to support the global need in producing professional, dedicated and ethical cyber security experts who will effectively plan, design, manage and practice reliable cyber security mechanisms and technologies. The programme is benchmarked against cyber security professional certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), Cisco Certified CyberOps Professional, CPT (Certified Penetration Tester), CSAP (Certified Secure Application Professional), CDSP (Certified Data Security Professional), CHFI (Computer Hacking and Forensic Investigation) and Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK).

3-8 Semesters (subject to current lesson plan and UTM academic regulations)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- CGPA ≥ 2.5 for the Bachelor Degree of Computer Science, or IT, or Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from UTM or any other recognized university by Malaysia ; or
- CGPA < 2.5 for the Bachelor Degree of Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with 5 years of working experience in related fields (e.g., cyber security/information security) and recognized by University Senate ; or
- Candidates with non-Computer Science degree (e.g. IT & other engineering) must complete two additional courses during first semester of the programme:
1. Cryptography
2. Computer Security
ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
International students who wish to enroll in the postgraduate programs at UTM must meet the English language competency requirements as stipulated below:
- Malaysia University Entrance Test (MUET) with a minimum score of Band 4.0 and above; or
- IELTS with a minimum score of Band 6.0 and above; or
- TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 60 and above; or
- Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE), with a minimum score of 168 and above; or
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic with a minimum score of 59 and above; or
- Certified Intensive English Programme Level (CIEP Level) achieving Level 109 and above.
